Detectives seek witnesses after man is stabbed to death

Police today (November 29) remained at a flat in Leicester where a man was found dead with a single stab wound to his chest.

Officers were called to a terraced house in Fosse Road North in Leicester after concerns were raised about the welfare of a man.

When they arrived on Friday morning they discovered the body of the 51-year-old male.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and a later post mortem showed it was the knife wound which caused his death.

A knife has been recovered from the property which is a short distance from the junction with the junction with Groby Road.

The house was still cordoned off on Sunday afternoon and an officer remained at the scene.

Leicestershire Police have yet to release the identity of the victim.

A man, aged 29, of Leicester, and a woman, also aged 29, of Leicester, were arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday. They both remain in police custody.

The two people arrested were known to the deceased, added the spokesperson.

Krystof Kowalckyk, 38, who lives off Fosse Road North, told LeicestershireLive: “This is not a nice thing to happen.

“It worries me.

“This is not the greatest part of the town but there is not much violence.

“I feel very sorry for the man who has died. It is horrible.”

Another person who lives nearby said: “The police were all over the house on Friday.

“They’ve been knocking on doors trying to get footage of people coming and going and going to the nearby shops.”

Detective Inspector Kenny Henry said: “Our enquiries are very much continuing and officers remain in the area carrying out house to house enquiries, speaking to witnesses and checking on CCTV.

“We continue to appeal to anyone who has any information in relation to the incident, and who has not yet spoken to police, to make contact with us.

“Were you in the area of Fosse Road North during the early hours of Friday morning or later on during the morning?

“Did you see or hear anything which caused you any concern? Do you have any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area which may be able to assist our investigation?

“If you have any information at all which you think could help us, I urge you to get in touch with us.”

Anyone with information about what happened, should contact Leicestershire Police on 101.
