Door-to-door testing announced for four Leicester neighbourhoods

Leicester city council has released the locations of the next round of door-to-door community coronavirus testing in Leicester.

Council officers have resumed the door-to-door testing scheme in the city following a huge spike in coronavirus cases in the UK and the implementation of a national lockdown.

The city council has today said that this week council officers will be in the Westmeath Ave, Marjorie Street and St Philips Road
and Gipsy Lane areas of the city.

A statement from the council read: “Please take the test if you are offered one, even if you do not have symptoms.

“This widespread community testing was an important factor in bringing down our infection rates over the summer.”

The council says those carrying out the testing ‘always carry ID’, and will be wearing PPE and high visibility jackets.

The council have said that while they aim to target these areas, ‘the situation is rapidly changing so this schedule may change at short notice’.
