Drivers warned of 14 mile diversion for 0.2 mile road closure in Loughborough

Drivers will have to go on a diversion route of around 14 miles when a 0.2 mile road closure is put in place so repairs to a junction can be carried out.

A short section of Melton Road, at the Burton Lane junction, in Burton-on-the-Wolds, Loughborough, will be closed for three nights between the evening of Friday, September 17, and the morning of Monday, September 20.

Diversions will be put in place to access Burton Lane. Drivers will either have to take a 14.1 mile diversion via Loughborough Road, Rempstone Road and the A6006, or a 13.6 mile diversion via Melton Road, Paddys Lane and East Road.

The road works could add up to 16 minutes to travel times for drivers.

The work will take place between 8pm and 6am. The council is advising drivers to avoid the area where possible.

The closure will be in place to allow Leicestershire County Council to carry out road patching work.
