STEVIE JONES AND THE WILDFIRES are a well-established East Midlands based independent 4 piece who deliver a unique blend of alternative rock centred around acoustic based songwriting. This summer they gear up to release their 4th album ‘Getting There’. As with their two previous albums ‘Clarity In Dusk’ (2023) and ‘Angels and Sirens’ (2018) it was recorded at Deadline Studios, Leicester with producer and musical collaborator Adam Ellis. Initially intended as an acoustic solo EP the ideas expanded in the studio and took them in a slightly different direction, resulting in an 8 track conceptual album.
Stevie regards Leicester as his second home, he used to live in the city as did his family and he worked as an archaeologist for many years for University of Leicester so is very connected with the City and its history. He still puts on regular gigs in Leicester and has done over the years, particularly at The Musician. Stevie was very much part of hosting some the first regular open mics as the scene exploded in 2007-2011 providing a stage for a whole range of local acts. He’s also compèred on stages at the popular festivals Summer Sundae and Simon Says formerly held at De Montfort Hall and Gardens.
‘Getting There’ is “a soundtrack to a brief journey through the twists and turns of romance, anxiety and recovery”. With full band and gentler more acoustic arrangements genres range from Alternative/Indie Rock and Americana to touches of Progressive Rock and it includes two covers by The Waterboys and City and Colour with special guest appearances by guitarist Mark Gill and vocalist Jodie Erica. The soft release CD launch for fans is pencilled in for August 16th at The Musician Leicester, with full streaming following in October.
