Firefighters rescue casualty from property blaze in Syston

Firefighters evacuated and treated a casualty for smoke inhalation following a fire at a residential property on Necton Street, Syston, Leicestershire this morning (October 15).

Two Leicestershire Fire and Rescue crews from Birstall and Eastern stations attended following a callout at 12.54am and have since extinguished the blaze and are now damping down.

The casualty was successfully extracted from the property and treated before being passed over to East Midlands Ambulance Service.

A Leicestershire Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “Call received to a property fire with a request for ambulance also due to one casualty with smoke inhalation.

“Upon arrival 2 Breathing Apparatus committed under Rapid Deployment along with 1 Hose Reel Jet. East Midlands Ambulance Service in attendance.”

“All breathing apparatus have now been withdrawn and smoke has been cleared. Cutting away and damping down is in progress.”
