Good Food Guide event offers diners special meals at restaurants ‘that may have been out of budget’

Two Rutland restaurants will be running offers

Two Rutland restaurants will be offering diners deals and discounts in an event hosted by The Good Food Guide. The offers aim to help restaurants during the industry’s quietest trading periods.

The guide, known for spotlighting some of Britain’s most exciting places to eat, is running its first-ever ‘Restaurant Month’, from Tuesday, January 13 to Friday, February 13. The nationwide campaign will see eateries serve up special menus and offers, in order to help places boost bookings during January.

The event will showcase the “breadth and diversity” of restaurants in Britain, from refined dining to standout neighbourhood gems. According to the guide, more than 350 sites will be participating.

For Leicestershire, the closest participating restaurants are both located in neighbouring Rutland. The first venue is The Olive Branch, located in the village of Clipsham. The site recently placed 32nd in the top 100 Good Food Guide’s best pubs across the country.

The second inclusion in the list is The Fern, located within The Falcon Hotel in Uppingham. This eatery was recently in the news after being awarded an AA rosette for culinary excellence, just six months after opening its doors.

Both of the sites will be running offers based on the Good Food Guide’s event, but guests are advised to check with the restaurant first before booking.

Speaking about the reason behind this new venture, Adam Hyman, owner of The Good Food Guide, said: “January is a notoriously tough time for hospitality. I’ve always thought it is one of the best times to treat yourself to a meal out and a glass or two of something delicious.

“The aim of Restaurant Month is to encourage the British public to venture out for a meal at the beginning of year and perhaps try a place that they may not have eaten at or treat themselves to a special meal somewhere that may have been out of their budget.

“Whether you’re a cash-strapped student, a family not wanting to cook at home one evening or someone who just loves restaurants as much as we do, Restaurant Month is for everyone!”
