A man and woman found dead in a house in Desford were a married elderly couple Leicestershire Police has today revealed.
Ian Dent, 69 and his 79-year-old wife Ruth were found by officers at around 10am on Thursday, October 28 after neighbours in Leicester Lane, Desford, became concerned for the occupants’ welfare.
The couple’s bodies were found with “significant” injuries at the time and a post-mortem examination has now confirmed that they both died from “knife-related injuries”, the force said.
Specially trained officers are supporting the family.
An investigation that was launched into the deaths of the couple continue and detectives say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation.
Detective Inspector Nicole Main from the force’s major crime team said: “Our investigation continues to investigate the full circumstances surrounding of the deaths and the events leading up to the bodies being discovered.
“Following the conclusion of the post-mortem examinations and enquiries carried out so far, we can confirm that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation and there is no wider risk identified to the public.
“The family continue to be supported by specially trained family liaison officers at this distressing time as our enquiries remain ongoing.”
