Police appeal after man pushes trolley into a woman in Poundstretcher

A woman was the victim of an assault while out shopping in Poundstretcher in recent weeks – and police want to find the man behind it.

The victim suffered bruising from the incident, which happened on Saturday, 22 January around 3pm.

The pair were arguing at the store located in Beaumont Shopping Centre, Beaumont Leys prior to the assault, in which a man pushed a trolley into the woman.

Leicestershire Police have issued a CCTV image of a man they believe to be involved in the incident, which resulted in the woman falling to the ground.

The image shows the man, who appears middle-aged, with little to no hair and wearing a black jacket with a black and white chequered scarf.

A spokesman for the force has asked the public to get in touch if they recognise him.

They said: “Officers are appealing for public help in identifying this man after a woman was assaulted in Beaumont Leys.

“A verbal altercation took place between a man and woman in Poundstretcher in Beaumont Way around 3pm on Saturday 22 January which resulted in a trolley being pushed into the woman.

“The victim suffered bruising after she fell during the incident.

“Anyone who recognises the man in the image (pictured) or has any suspicions about who he may be is asked to get in touch.”
