Police cordon off petrol station after a body is found in a car

Police have cordoned off a petrol station in Leicester after finding a man’s body in a car.

Officers were called to the St Matthew’s Service Station in Humberstone Road at lunch time after a sudden death was reported.

Forensic officers are at the scene now as investigations into the circumstances of the death are carried out.

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said: “Police were called at around 1.30pm today to a report of a sudden death.

“Officers attended St Matthew’s Service Station, Humberstone Road, Leicester following a report that a man was found unresponsive in a vehicle parked at the location.

“The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“A cordon remains in place and the death is currently being treated as unexplained while enquiries into the exact circumstances surrounding it are being carried out.”
