Boris Johnson’s wife Carrie has given birth to her second child with the Prime Minister after a difficult 24 hours for Downing Street.
The child is a daughter, and follows the birth of Wilfred, their son, in April 2020.
Mr and Mrs Johnson announced the birth of a “healthy baby girl” at a London hospital earlier this morning.

A spokeswoman for the couple said: “Both mother and daughter are doing very well.
“The couple would like to thank the brilliant NHS maternity team for all their care and support.”
The Prime Minster, who is 57, has eight children and has been married three times.
He is currently at the centre of a scandal over an alleged party at 10 Downing Street during the Tier 3 restrictions in London in December last year.
Yesterday Health Secretary Sajid Javid cancelled an appearance on Sky News in the midst of the row.
He has now appeared on the news programme and when asked why he had cancelled yesterday he told Sky News: “I didn’t appear because I saw that video, it upset me, it upset lots of people, it upset the prime minister.”
