Queues at Beacon Hill as people flock to enjoy the sun

Queues built up today outside Beacon Hill Country Park as people arrived to enjoy the sun.

The park near Loughborough, which features woodland and craggy terrain, has parking charges and a barrier – which led to queues forming along Beacon Road today as people flocked to the beauty spot.

The weather is set to be sunny all day today, with highs of at least 22C but it will be the last time for a while that it feels like summer.

Tomorrow’s highs are unlikely to be much above 12C, with the forecast predicting that temperatures will stay below 14C for the next two weeks.

Leicester’s parks are also having a busy week, with large crowds on Bede Park yesterday leading to disorder.

Leicestershire Police made two arrests with one 16-year-old girl facing charges for assaulting police officers and a second 16-year-old girl being arrested for threatening behaviour.

Since Monday, people have been allowed to travel more freely to enjoy the outdoors and meet up in larger groups.

However, tourists planning a trip to Skegness are being urged to stay away until the May bank holiday to stop coronavirus spreading in the town.

Lincolnshire County Council fear a “massive surge” in visitors to the seaside town this bank holiday weekend could trigger a rise in coronavirus cases.
