Tenth person charged in connection with Abdirahim Mohamed murder investigation

Another person has been charged with murder in the Abdirahim Mohamed murder investigation.

Rizwan Gul, 25, of no fixed address, has been charged today, Sunday September 26, following his arrest on the morning of Saturday, September 25.

He has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 27.

Abdirahim, 18, was found in Melbourne Street, Leicester, with multiple stab wounds at 11.45pm on Wednesday, September 8.

He died in the early hours of Thursday, September 9.

Gul the seventh person charged with Abdirahim’s murder, and the tenth charged overall, with three people accused of assisting an offender.

Zakir Brant, 25, of Bale Road, Leicester, was charged with murder on Saturday, and is also due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 27.

Mohammed Israfeel Gul, 27, of New Way Road, Daniel Pollard, 29, of Calder Road, Mohammed Hansrod, 29, of Dulverton Road, Abdul Hemid Suleman, 58, of Jupiter Close, Bhavic Parmar, 25, of Bowling Green Street, have all been charged with murder.

They are due to appear at Leicester Crown Court in November.

Earlier this week, Fahad Ali Saleem, 25, of Frederick Street, Leicester, was charged with assisting an offender.

Muhamad Firoz Khan, 32, and Khatib Gul, 57, both of Apollo Court, Leicester, also face the same offence and will appear at the same court next month.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “A man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of Abdirahim Mohamed.

“Rizwan Gul, 25, of no fixed address, has been charged today (Sunday) following his arrest yesterday morning (Saturday 25 September).

“He has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday 27 September).

“Abdirahim Mohamed, 18, was found at 11.45pm on the evening of Wednesday 8 September in Melbourne Street, Leicester, with multiple stab wounds. He died in the early hours of Thursday 9 September.

“Nine people have previously been charged in connection with the death of Abdirahim.”
