One of Leicester‘s busiest roads had to be closed this evening following a collision.
Leicestershire Police said on Twitter at just after 4.40pm that the Narborough Road, near the junction with Winchester Avenue, had to be shut in both directions while officers dealt with the incident.
“Please find alternative routes, there will be long delays,” motorists were warned.
But the force then said the road had reopened shortly after 5.10pm.
“Narborough Road has now reopened, there might be some delays – thank you for your patience,” Leicestershire Police said.
Traffic monitoring service Inrix said in an update at around 5.15pm: “A5460 Narborough Road in both directions re-opened, accident cleared from Winchester Avenue to Danvers Road.”
It has not yet been confirmed how many vehicles were involved in the collision or whether there were any casualties.
