All over the city and county amazing light shows outside people’s homes have been competing with the most professional of Christmas displays.
And, among the most best we’ve come across yet is this splendid light show which Brij Kotecha has created outside his home in Harvard Close, Oadby.
For about 15 years he has decorated his magnolia tree with up to 50,000 lights.
Once again, the display is up and switched on.
Brij got the idea to decorate his magnolia from his neighbour, Hans Newborne, who one year put decorative lights in his conifer tree.
The job to put all the lights up takes about two days each Christmas, but the delight the display brings is worth all the effort – and the electricity bill.
He said: “People have been saying how spectacular it looks.
“There are about 50,000 twinkling lights on the tree this year and it took two of us two days to put up – full days from 8am until 7pm.
“But it was worth it.
“Lots of people drive past to have a look and kids come and take photos on their phones.
“It’s just a pleasure to see so many people enjoying them.”
