Two rushed to hospital after three-vehicle crash outside hotel

Emergency services rushed to the scene of a three-vehicle crash outside a Leicester city centre this evening (December 28).

Two people have been taken to hospital following the incident, in St Nicholas Circle.

One of the vehicles involved had overturned in the collision outside the Holiday Inn.

Firefighters rescued the casualties from two of the cars involved.

Police and paramedics also attended the scene.

According to Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service, a city-bound stretch of St Augustine Road was closed to allow recovery vehicles and emergency services to attend.

Both of the injured people were taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary.

There has been no further update on their condition.

Vehicles were being directed through the area by police officers.

The force said traffic was ‘flowing’ but it urged driers to avoid the area if possible.
