Where in Leicestershire new Covid cases have been confirmed

Nearly 400 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed across the city and county today.

Leicester has had 134 new cases confirmed in the last 24 hours, which means there have been less cases than the previous day found in the city every day this week.

Another 241 cases spread across Leicestershire have also been confirmed on Saturday.

That makes a total in the city and county of 375 new cases.

There were 64 cases in Charnwood, 37 in North West Leicestershire and 22 in Harborough.

Hinckley and Bosworth recorded 25 new cases with 34 in Blaby district and 18 in Oadby and Wigston borough.

Melton borough recorded 21 new cases.

The new cases, mean that the total number of cases across the city and county since the start of the pandemic area by area are :

  • Leicester: 31,227

  • Blaby: 6,059

  • Charnwood:10,585

  • Harborough: 4,378

  • Hinckley and Bosworth: 5,149

  • Melton: 2,263

  • North West Leicestershire: 4,877

  • Oadby and Wigston: 4,418

In other coronavirus news, two more rapid Covid testing centres have opened in Leicestershire towns.

Meanwhile, 26 areas of the county where the most Covid cases have been confirmed recently have been pinpointed.

The latest seven-day infection rates, area by area, are:

  • Leicester: 372.9 cases per 100,000 (1,321 cases in the last seven days)

  • Blaby: 243 cases per 100,000 (239.3)

  • Charnwood: 408 cases per 100,000 (219.5)

  • Harborough: 191 cases per 100,000 (203.6)

  • Hinckley and Bosworth: 266 cases per 100,000 (235.1)

  • Melton: 99 cases per 100,000 (193.3)

  • North West Leicestershire: 254 cases per 100,000 (245.1)

  • Oadby and Wigston: 164 cases per 100,000 (287.6)
