Cherry Lane Glebe charity firework display

The annual fireworks display at Glebe Garden Centre by Cherry Lane, the value garden centre in Countesthorpe, will be back with a bang this year on Saturday 6th November. After the previous two years’ events were cancelled due to heavy rain and Covid-19, Cherry Lane is looking forward to once again hosting this firework spectacular which raises funds for the local scouts.

Cherry Lane usually welcomes over 3,750 people to its annual family firework display at the garden centre on Foston Road. The event is run by Cherry Lane in conjunction with the Scouts and has been taking place at the Glebe Garden Centre since 1999. At the last fireworks event held in 2018, Cherry Lane raised £2,500 for 109th Leicester Countesthorpe St Andrews Scout Troop.

Tickets are now on sale for this year’s firework night, which sees the return of the massive bonfire, tasty refreshments including burgers, chips and candy floss treats, music, a fairground for toddlers and a fantastic firework display.

Richard Durrant, manager at Glebe Garden Centre by Cherry Lane, said: “We are really looking forward to hosting our charity fireworks night once again this year. The display is one the biggest in the area and a great family night out. We’ve really missed being able to run this event and are so pleased to be back for 2021. The Scouts and staff here at Cherry Lane do a brilliant job in ensuring a fun and safe evening for all. We’re pleased to be able to do our bit to help raise funds for our fabulous friends at the Scouts at the same time.”

Jack Barber, acting group scout leader of 109th Leicester Countesthorpe St Andrews Scouts, said: “The firework display is a much-loved event here in the community and a key fundraising activity for our Group. It is a pleasure to be working alongside Cherry Lane again for our annual bonfire night and we’re looking forward to a brilliant evening for all the family.”
