He confirmed it will continue to trade under new ownership, with a ‘good friend’ of his taking the reins
The “end of an era” has come for an Indian restaurant as the owner has announced their departure after 12 years.
In a heartfelt message, Muj Rahman, who runs Indian Fusion in Markfield, announced that he would be stepping away from the restaurant.
Muj has described the eatery in Main Street as his “second home” and shared that the choice to leave “hasn’t been easy”.
He did not go into detail on what led to the decision, but has confirmed the venue will continue to trade under new ownership.
Muj said: “After more than 12 incredible years in Markfield, the time has come for me to step away from Fusion.
“This hasn’t been an easy decision. Fusion has been so much more than a restaurant, it’s been a second home.
“Over the years, I’ve spent countless hours here, and the memories, friendships, laughter, and support we’ve shared will stay with me forever.
“From day one, the people of Markfield and the surrounding communities welcomed us with open arms.
“Your loyalty and kindness have meant everything, not just to me, but to my entire family.
“We’ve had the privilege of watching families grow, celebrating special moments together, and building connections that go far beyond business.
“To everyone who has supported us, whether by dining with us, recommending us, or simply sharing kind words, thank you.
“You are the reason Fusion became what it is today.
“While it’s difficult to say goodbye, I leave feeling incredibly proud and deeply grateful for everything we’ve achieved together.
“Markfield will always hold a special place in my heart.”
Despite the news, Muj urged his customers to continue their “amazing support” as he shared that Indian Fusion will welcome a new owner.
He added: “I’m also pleased to share that I’ll be handing over the reins to a good friend, who brings a wealth of experience in the industry.
“I have no doubt they will continue to do Fusion proud and serve the great food you’ve come to love.
“Please do give them a warm welcome and continue your amazing support.
“Thank you for 12 unforgettable years, for the memories, the friendships, and the love.”
Those who supported the restaurant over the years have shared that he will be greatly missed.
One person said: “I will miss all of you very dearly.”
A second added: “I’m glad we got to say goodbye and reminisce before you left. We will miss you all (and your lovely food) and wish you all well in your future endeavours, enjoy your time with your family Muj.”
One diner said: “All the best for the future Muj, Bob and team! End of any era for many!”
A fourth customer added: “You’ll definitely be missed, my favourite Indian restaurant. Hopefully the same great flavours will continue and good luck with whatever you’re doing.”
