Fresh Wesley Fofana blow for Leicester City as transfer hunt continues

Fofana blow

Leicester City have seen a £25m bid for St Etienne defender Wesley Fofana officially rejected according to reports.

The Foxes are eager to land the talented centre-back and are understood to have submitted a bid in the last few days.

But now it has emerged tonight that the Ligue One side have turned it down according to football journalist Manu Lonjon.

St Etienne have said the player will not be leaving the club this summer despite Fofana himself making it clear he wants to move to the King Power Stadium.

Fofana opens up on abuse

St Etienne defender Wesley Fofana says his mother and sister have both been subjected to abuse which has influenced his decision to want to quit the Ligue One club.

Leicester are still hoping to wrap up a deal for the talented teenage centre-back who has spoken of his desire to quit the French club and move to the Premier League.

Fofana has been linked with the Foxes for some time, but says his family has had to withstand abuse with some fans calling him a “traitor”.

The 19-year-old hit out at the offenders and said it was one of the reasons why he is so keen to move to the King Power Stadium.

“To be called a “mercenary”, “traitor”, hurt me,” he told L’Equipe.

“But that Stéphanois come to insult my mother and my little sister, it affects me a lot.

“I am disgusted.”

Where is Gray?

There was simply no space for Demarai Gray in the Leicester City squad that earned an opening-day victory at West Brom.

Despite being one of City’s best performers during the Project Restart at the end of last season – in which he scored once and set up two more goals – and a decent showing in pre-season, Gray was not included in the 18 at the Hawthorns, with manager Brendan Rodgers going on to explain his reasons for choosing Marc Albrighton, James Maddison, and Kelechi Iheanacho instead.

With less than a year remaining on his contract, and with a new winger still on the agenda for City in the transfer market, Gray’s exclusion from the squad is only going to provoke more questions about his future at the King Power Stadium.

Mitch stuns United and fans go crazy

Mitch Clark wowed Leicester City fans with a sublime goal against Manchester United’s under-23s as the young Foxes began their Premier League Two campaign in style.

Ali Reghba had given the Foxes the lead in the second half when his shot on the turn put City in command.

But young left-back Clark saved the best for last when he he picked up the ball 25 yards out, beat two challenges and unleashed a rocket into the far corner.

Leicester City posted a video of the goal on their official Twitter account and Foxes fans were quick to praise the youngster’s wonder strike.
