Leicester Tigers supporters couldn’t be there in person to see them inflict more misery on Northampton Saints – but they certainly let their feelings be known online.
The 28-24 win at Welford Road saw Steve Borthwick’s side end the congested period of seven games in four weeks on a high note heading into next week’s European Challenge Cup clash with Castres.
Below is a selection of some of the comments left on Leicester Tigers’ official Facebook page…
Rob Owles: ‘Winners are grinners’.
Mike House: ‘Too close for comfort at the end but got the job done. Good shifts put in by lots of players.’
Clive Russell: ‘Like many of us tonight, I’m a happy bunny, very happy for the team and great to see we can play for nearly 80 minutes. Lets not get ahead of ourselves still plenty to work on. Always a great fixture. Well done guys’.
Ed Smith: ‘Best we’ve played in a long time. Really enjoyed the match. Nadolo’s reaction after the scrum penalty was a highlight! The attacking game still needs sharpening but loads of positives, including Steward at full back’.
Peter Smith: ‘Nice to see some pride being shown for the shirt, but lack of creativity in attack is a bit of a concern. But we won so COYT’.
David Levett: ‘Discipline was poor, but enjoyed the result! Some work still to do, but you can definitely see improvements!’
Ashley Hallam: ‘It’s coming together now! Great game boys!’
Rosalind Bull: ‘Score line flatters Saints. Well played us. Nemzy fastest ever club legend?’
Calvin Boyd: ‘What a win this was…Lenny scored a try on his milestone appearance and Freddie Steward at 15 looks class beyond his years’.
Jamie Ccfc Anderson: ‘Well done to the tigers. I was critical of how we have been but I’m happy to eat that pie! Proud of the boys efforts today and credit to all the staff. What’s better than winning? Beating a very strong saints team in a local derby! #Tigers’.
