Leicester Tigers injury updates ahead of Challenge Cup quarter-final

Leicester Tigers director of rugby Geordan Murphy has provided some injury updates ahead of Sunday’s clash with Castres.

The Top 14 side arrive at Welford Road for the European Challenge Cup quarter-final – eight months after Tigers completed their pool stage commitments.

Murphy, speaking in Tuesday’s media session, shared the latest news on four members of his squad…

South African flanker Kyle Brink…

“Kyle is progressing nicely. He came with an Achilles’ injury and we’re managing that to make sure he is 100 per cent before he has to go back out on the playing field. He has been training, but his loads aren’t at the level just yet when we would put him into a big game game. We may see him over the course of the rest of the season.”

Outside back Sam Aspland-Robinson hasn’t featured since the season restarted…

“Sam has come through, he’s had an illness, a non-Covid related illness for the last couple of days. Again we want to get a good few weeks under Sam’s belt before we put him forward for selection. But he, at the minute, is ill.”

“Has been training today (Tuesday) so he back and available for selection for the weekend.”

England fly-half George Ford, who sat out of the Wasps and Northampton Saints games…

“He’s another one of the guys who had a bump but rested over the weekend and was walking around with the boys today.”
